a pool remodel will accessorize your pool

Whereas a pool repair or a pool renovation deals with operations, performance, structure, waterproofing, leak-free results, and the overall functioning of a pool, a pool remodel deals with look, feel, ambiance, eye-catching effects and the overall aesthetics of a pool. A pool remodel is a great way to accessorize your pool.

Here are a few remodel ideas to accessorize your pool:

  • you can add color-changing lighting effects, to include LED lighting or fiber-optic lighting.
  • you can add water features, such ad deck jets, fountains, or waterfalls.
  • you can add water features with color-changing lighting effects within the water feature.
  • you can upgrade the coping to brick, pavers, stone, flagstone, or poured-concrete coping.
  • you can re-tile the pool, if applicable for your pool.
  • you can re-surface the pool to change its color or overall look; while the main reason for re-surfacing the pool is to waterproof and protect the pool structure, as an ancillary benefit, by re-surfacing your pool, you will also improves the overall look of the pool.
  • you can stain the existing pool deck.
  • you can apply a decorative overlay over the existing pool deck.
  • you can tear-out an old and faulty concrete pool deck and re-pour the pool deck with new concrete - standard (gray) concrete or decorative concrete options, such as colored concrete, stamped concrete, or textured concrete.
  • you can tear-out an old and faulty concrete pool deck and replace it with bricks, pavers, stone, flagstone and other decorative decking options around your pool.
  • you can add a raised beam, if the lay-of-the-land allows, which is an upper-level pool deck with steps leading to and from the main pool deck; you can even add a waterfall or even a color-lit and color-changing waterfall to spill-over from the raised beam and into the pool. To be clear, a raised beam can be (likely will be) very expensive.

While adding automation is not necessarily thought of when considering a pool remodel, you can automate your pool for ease of operations for any color-changing lighting and water features.

Do you have an idea or vision as to how you would like to improve or remodel your pool? It does not matter if it is an isolated area that you want to improve or if you desire a major remodel, facelift, or even a complete transformation of the pool. You can even incorporate the pool, landscaping, and entire backyard into one overall remodel project; this is often loosely referred to as poolscaping.

Be advised that it is unwise to discuss a pool remodel if your pool has operational, performance, structural, waterproofing, or other functions-based issues or problems; obviously too if the pool leaks. Always repair or renovate a pool before you discuss a pool remodel, if applicable. If the entire pool works just fine, then dream away with the pool remodel that you have always envisioned.

You can read the Pool Manual for additional information about pool remodels.
