learn to trouobleshoot your automatic pool cleaner

While an automatic pool cleaner will absolutely assist you with pool maintenance - thus making pool maintenance much quicker and easier - at times, the automatic cleaner is going to be problematic. Before you panic, just take a deep breathe, calm down, and analyze the root of the problem. Our Pool Manual has a dedicated Troubleshooting category for all pool equipment, including all 3 types of automatic pool cleaners:

  • suction-side automatic pool cleaners
  • pressure-side automatic pool cleaners
  • robotic automatic pool cleaners

Regardless of the type of automatic pool cleaner you have, you will need to troubleshoot it if it is:

  • not working like it is supposed to work
  • moving too slow
  • moving too fast
  • moving in circles only
  • moving randomly and/or sporadically, but not in any pattern
  • staying in one end of the pool only
  • just floating in the water
  • always getting stuck
  • tipped over
  • not working at all

Perhaps it is doing or not doing something else not referenced in this list.

Regardless of what it is doing or not doing, during these times, you will need to troubleshoot the cleaner so you can either figure out the remedy yourself or best communicate the problem(s), which can ultimately save time and money if a service call is required to repair or replace your automatic pool cleaner.

You can read the Pool Manual for additional information about each type of automatic pool cleaner, including how to troubleshoot each type.
