you have a concrete pool not a gunite pool or shotcrete pool

A concrete pool is a pool that is built with concrete. When referencing "concrete" pools, there is no such thing as a gunite pool or a shotcrete pool; we repeat, there is no such thing as a gunite pool or a shotcrete pool. Rather, gunite and shotcrete describe the methods for spraying the concrete to build the concrete pool; in other words, the building material is concrete and the method for applying the concrete is (actually was) either via a gunite application or a shotcrete application. Today, the terms “gunite” and “shotcrete” are not even used; it is now referred to as dry shotcrete (previously known as gunite) and wet shotcrete (previously known as just shotcrete). The dry shotcrete (previously known as gunite) method is used when a dry mixture of cement and sand arrive at a jobsite and the water is introduced at the jobsite. The wet shotcrete (previously known as just shotcrete) method is used when the cement, sand, and water are all mixed at a factory or plant and then arrive on the jobsite at the requested mix ratio. The main difference, then, is when the water is mixed with the cement and sand to produce the final version of concrete. Do not concern yourself too much with the science and methodology between what used to be known as gunite and shotcrete; rather, just know that you do not have a gunite pool or a shotcrete pool...you have a concrete pool.

A concrete pool is a pool that is built with concrete. While the concrete is the strength, structure and integrity of a concrete pool, the concrete is susceptible to the effects of the fill water. Therefore, the concrete has to be waterproofed (protected). The method for waterproofing the concrete pool will not last forever. Therefore, the concrete will have to be re-waterproofed periodically; this is best known as re-surfacing the pool.

While a concrete pool is often referred to as a gunite pool or a shotcrete pool, it is a concrete pool.

There is no such pool as a shotcrete pool; rather, it is a concrete pool that was built with the shotcrete method of applying the concrete.

There is no such pool as a gunite pool; rather, it is a concrete pool that was built with the gunite method of applying the concrete.

Today, the terms gunite has been abondoned from pool terminology. Rather, the method for building concrete pools is known as the dry shotcrete method (formerly the gunite method) or the wet shotcrete method (formerly the shotcrete method).
