Ancillary Chemicals
You must use pool chemicals to sanitize, oxidize (shock), and balance the pool water.
The phrase 'ancillary chemicals' simply refers to the additional chemicals (other than your chosen sanitizer, shock, and the various water balancers) that you will also use to:
- help maintain water clarity (known as maintenance chemicals).
- help treat water clarity problems (known as treatment chemicals).
Once the pool water is sanitized, oxidized, and balanced, the use of various maintenance chemicals will help maintain clean, clear, and safe water for swimming.
At times, though, even the most tenured pool owner who is very astute with water chemistry, chemical testing and making the correct chemical adjustments will encounter water clarity problems. Relax...by troubleshooting the chemicals, you can use various treatment chemicals that will help remedy any water clarity problem. You must know how to troubleshoot the condition and appearance of the pool water when problems arise with water clarity...and they will arise, regardless of your tenure and expertise as a pool owner.
