Bromine

There are many pool sanitizers other than traditional chlorine. While bromine is technically considered an alternative to chlorine, bromine itself still contains a percentage of chlorine as an active ingredient...but it is still universally considered an alternative to [traditional] chlorine.

Bromine used to be the most popular alternative to chlorine. In recent years, though, salt (having a saltwater pool via a salt generator) has gained rapid and exponential growth as a proven sanitizer and therefore an alternative to [traditional] chlorine, rendering bromine as a less attractive alternative.

But, for those of you that still use bromine, it is a solid sanitizer option.
