Cartridge Filters
When pool equipment is being discussed and explained, the pump and filter are always initially referenced because they are required equipment for any pool. Proper pool maintenance and operations starts with a properly-sized pump and filter system.
The pool filter alone contributes the most towards the goal of maintaining water clarity, so its role is overly-important yet too often under-valued.
The filter removes dirt and all other debris from the pool.
There are three types of pool filters. This section deals with cartridge filters. While cartridge filters are effective, they can be laborious to manually clean and maintain and are therefore often overlooked.
But if the local ordinance of the city or town where you live mandates an actual plumbed waste line for a sand filter or a DE filter to backwash (automatically clean) that filter and it is too expensive to have a licensed plumber plumb that waste line, then the cartridge filter is an excellent filter choice. It does not require a plumbed waste line since it is not backwashed to be cleaned.
