Scale

While the goal of water chemistry is to maintain crystal clear and blue sparkling water, this can be detracted by the presence of scale, which is a white and hardened calcium build-up.

While there are effective chemicals (a Sequesterant) and maintenance procedures that will help prevent scale, the formation of scale on the pool surface and waterline, and even within the pool plumbing pipes and pool equipment, is possible if conditions are favorable.

Prior to attempting to treat the formation of scale, you must first troubleshoot the chemicals and the overall look of the scale to determine the cause. There are a few reasons for scale formation. By troubleshooting the chemicals and the overall look of the scale, you will be able to determine the reason for that scale and then use the correct chemicals and maintenance procedures to remove the scale formation.

While scale is unappealing, it can also be damaging to the pool surface, waterproofing, plumbing, and equipment.
