Biguanides

Biguanides [pronounced by-gwa-nides] are a sanitizer of pool water. The use of biguanides to sanitize the water is a true alternative to chlorine. In fact, it is the only 100% true alternative to chlorine...all other pool sanitizers use some degree of chlorine.

Biguanides is the only sanitizer that does not use any chlorine.

There is a problem with biguanides...they are not compatible with certain (actually many) other pool chemicals. But, this is a problem that can easily be controlled and nullified. When you choose biguanides to sanitize your pool water, you must know everything about the biguanides as well as what chemicals are compatible - and more importantly, what chemicals are incompatible - with the biguanides.

While chlorine, salt, mineral-chlorination, and bromine are the most popular pool sanitizer options - and while UV-chlorination is rapidly becoming popular too - sanitizing the pool with biguanides is still viable.
