Waterline Build-Up

While the goal of water chemistry is to help maintain crystal clear and blue sparkling water, at times your pool water - its water clarity - will be problematic, to include the presence of a build-up on the waterline (surface) of the pool, which is most often referred to as a waterline build-up (but may also be referred to as a water ring, scumline, or scum ring). Whereas scale is a hardened and white calcium build-up, the waterline build-up is usually brownish-yellowish and soft (and therefore easy to remove).

While there are effective chemicals (an Enzyme) and maintenance procedures that will help prevent a waterline build-up, a waterline build-up is possible - even likely - if conditions are favorable. Relax. A waterline build-up is no big deal to eliminate...and when eliminated, it will allow your sanitizer to work better and it will make your filter operations much more effective.
