DE Filters

When pool equipment is being discussed and explained, the pump and filter are always initially referenced because they are required equipment for any pool. Proper pool maintenance and operations starts with a properly-sized pump and filter system.

The pool filter alone contributes the most towards the goal of maintaining water clarity, so its role is overly-important yet too often under-valued.

The filter removes dirt and all other debris from the pool.

There are three types of pool filters. This section deals with DE filters. The DE stands for Diatomaceous Earth. While the DE filter is the most effective of the three pool filter types, it's the least popular type of filter, primarily because of its perceived difficulty of maintenance. It is not that much more difficult to maintain a DE filter...and the minimal effort is worth the total reward of a far cleaner and clearer pool than with any of the other two filter types.
