You've probably heard that failing to plan is planning to fail. Just as in your career and even life in general, the same applies to your pool - failing to plan is planning to fail.
You must plan accordingly and save money for future pool costs, such as pool equipment repairs, replacing existing equipment, adding new equipment, structural and/or interior pool repairs, re-surfacing, renovations, remodels, improvements, or related pool work.
Most pool professionals offer free onsite consultation and bids (also called estimates) so you can obtain a true cost (at least a close cost) for the pool work and then save money for these future pool costs and considerations. While some of these considerations might be in the distant future, some may be considered for the end of a current pool season, the beginning of the next pool season, or perhaps within the next few years at the latest.
Also, some future considerations may become now occurrences, primarily in emergencies. As a pool owner, expect - and be financially prepared for - emergencies in case a future projection becomes a now reality.
There will always be future considerations and costs to make sure your pool lasts for years and decades. Therefore, you must also include in your budget some money to be saved each year that accounts for - and is put aside for - these future costs for pool work that you may not need now, may not need next year, and may not need for several years, but will eventually need.
If you know that something - whether it be a product or a service - will be needed for your pool at some point in time in the future, then list it in the future budget.
