The main chemicals you will use as a pool owner are your chosen sanitizer, shock, and the water balancers (for Alkalinity, pH, and Hardness levels).

You should also use various maintenance chemicals as part of your pool maintenance schedule to help prevent water problems.

You will also periodically have to use various treatment chemicals on just an as-needed basis to help treat/remedy actual water problems to restore that water clarity.

There are also specialty chemicals that you may use, but only in certain situations.
